AHA Adult/Child/Infant CPR AED First Aid Description Information AHA Adult/Child/Infant CPR AED First Aid Approximately a 7 hour combination course designed to teach members of the general public how to assess and treat injuries, medical and environmental emergencies until professional help arrives. Skills focus on keeping the rescuer safe, while providing life-saving assistance to the patient in a variety of scenarios. Students learn proper techniques to use when treating internal or external bleeding; dealing with anaphylactic shock; managing bone and joint injuries; burn care; recognizing symptoms of heart attack, stroke, diabetic emergencies and more. Students also learn proper CPR techniques, how and when to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) and how to relieve choking for adults, children and infants. Use of a barrier device to prevent contamination during rescue breathing is also addressed. This combination course satisfies OSHA requirements and the First Aid and CPR requirements for child care providers in the State of Maryland. Upon successful course completion, students receive an American Heart Association certification card valid for two years.

NHS - CPR AED Skills for Lay Persons Description Information NHS - CPR AED Skills for Lay Persons Heartsaver CPR/AED Skills Session: This is a 3-part course, designed for the lay rescuer (childcare providers, coaches, scout leaders, parents, etc.) who may be required to provide occasional CPR with AED use. Lay rescuers are not healthcare providers and are not expected to participate regularly in patient care. Part 1 consists of an online portion which tests didactic learning. Part 2 is a classroom instructor-led practice session for practical skills including CPR/AED use for adults, children and infants, and choking relief. Part 3 is classroom testing of all practical skills. The online portion of the course, Part 1, is accessed using a “key code” on the AHA online website. ACLS Renewal Description Information ACLS Renewal Approximately a 6 – 8 hour renewal course designed for students who are currently ACLS certified. Course work contains obligatory AHA lectures and reviews the identification and treatment of medical conditions contributing to cardiac arrest; treatment choices for arrest and peri-arrest patients; BLS adult CPR techniques; recognition of algorithms; interpretation of arrhythmias and appropriate ACLS drug therapy. AHA Adult/Child/Infant CPR AED First Aid Description Information AHA Adult/Child/Infant CPR AED First Aid Approximately a 7 hour combination course designed to teach members of the general public how to assess and treat injuries, medical and environmental emergencies until professional help arrives. Skills focus on keeping the rescuer safe, while providing life-saving assistance to the patient in a variety of scenarios. Students learn proper techniques to use when treating internal or external bleeding; dealing with anaphylactic shock; managing bone and joint injuries; burn care; recognizing symptoms of heart attack, stroke, diabetic emergencies and more. Students also learn proper CPR techniques, how and when to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) and how to relieve choking for adults, children and infants. Use of a barrier device to prevent contamination during rescue breathing is also addressed. This combination course satisfies OSHA requirements and the First Aid and CPR requirements for child care providers in the State of Maryland. NHS - CPR AED Skills for Lay Persons Description Information NHS - CPR AED Skills for Lay Persons Heartsaver CPR/AED Skills Session: This is a 3-part course, designed for the lay rescuer (childcare providers, coaches, scout leaders, parents, etc.) who may be required to provide occasional CPR with AED use. Lay rescuers are not healthcare providers and are not expected to participate regularly in patient care. Part 1 consists of an online portion which tests didactic learning. Part 2 is a classroom instructor-led practice session for practical skills including CPR/AED use for adults, children and infants, and choking relief. Part 3 is classroom testing of all practical skills. The online portion of the course, Part 1, is accessed using a “key code” on the AHA online website. Students must successfully pass Part 1, the online course, and print their Certificate of Completion.
