ACLS for the Experienced Provider Description Information ACLS for the Experienced Provider The ACLS for Experienced Providers (EP) course is designed for those healthcare professionals that utilize ACLS skills on a routine basis. This is a highly challenging, real life scenarios based ACLS recertification class for those who meet the following requirements: 1) currently certified in ACLS, 2) proficiency in BLS CPR skills, 3) currently active in providing ACLS care (ED, ICU/CCU, EMS staff, etc) The premise for this course is that, if we are aware of the most common causes of cardiac arrest and can identify those patients at risk; could we lower the incidence of death by educating ACLS providers on pre-emptive interventions? The ACLS-EP course is a one day, 8-9 hour course that reviews current ACLS proficiency and provides discussion for the recognition and management of four specific peri-arrest conditions: Electrolyte Abnormalities, Cardiovascular/Pulmonary Emergencies (including right ventricular infarction), Environmental Emergencies, and Toxicology Emergencies. The first portion of this course will be the ACLS examination and skills check. The second half of the course consists of instructor lead workgroups and case studies. There is no final exam for the ACLS-EP program
