PALS Initial Provider Description Information PALS Initial Provider PALS: The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. What This Course Does Not Cover: The PALS Course does not teach CPR, ECG rhythm identification, PALS pharmacology, or algorithms. If you do not review CPR and if you do not learn and understand the ECG and pharmacology information in the Precourse Self-Assessment, it is unlikely that you can successfully complete the PALS Course. You will not be taught how to read or interpret ECG rhythm strips in the course, nor will you be taught details about PALS pharmacology.

The Difficult Airway Course: EMS Description Information The Difficult Airway Course: EMS The Definitive EMS Airway Course Learn the full range of airway management techniques — including use of video laryngoscopes & other advanced imaging devices, extraglottic devices, drug-assisted intubation and cricothyrotomy. Work with an expert faculty who knows the unique challenges facing EMS providers. Use all of the airway devices in small group sessions. Practice decision-making and airway techniques in Code AirwayTM stations. Face the most challenging patient scenarios in a no-risk environment. These include: elevated ICP, pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock, status asthmaticus foreign body in the airway, direct airway trauma, multiple trauma with shock, and many more. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, and paramedics, as well as others who need an ACLS course completion card for job or other requirements. What This Course Does Not Cover: The ACLS Course does not teach ECG rhythm recognition or pharmacology. BLS for Healthcare Providers Description Information BLS for Healthcare Providers BLS: The AHA’s new BLS Course has been updated to include science and education from the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. Basic life support (BLS) training reinforces healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing CPR, choking relief, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics. Students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

PALS Renewal/Update Description Information PALS Renewal/Update PALS: The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. What This Course Does Not Cover: The PALS Course does not teach CPR, ECG rhythm identification, PALS pharmacology, or algorithms. If you do not review CPR and if you do not learn and understand the ECG and pharmacology information in the Precourse Self-Assessment, it is unlikely that you can successfully complete the PALS Course. You will not be taught how to read or interpret ECG rhythm strips in the course, nor will you be taught details about PALS pharmacology.
