Emergency Medical Technician Description Information Emergency Medical Technician The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) curriculum is a 220-hour core curriculum of minimum required information to prepare students to seek qualification as an EMT. The curriculum is intended to prepare a medically competent EMT to operate in the field. Enrichment programs and continuing education will help fulfill other specific needs for the EMT education. This course is broken down into 140 hours classroom (virtual) and 80 hours practical "hands-on" training. Prerequisite: Minimum age – Must be 16 years of age at time of completion

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Description Information Advanced Emergency Medical Technician The AEMT course is considered a blended course with online assignments as well as "live" in person lab. The course is 15 weeks long. You must hold a valid EMT certification. The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
