NECI 9-1-1 Emergency Communication Officer Description Information NECI 9-1-1 Emergency Communication Officer This course is open to candidates 18 years of age and older interested in obtaining the necessary skills and education to enter the field of emergency communications or already working in and emergency communications center. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to receive and process 9-1-1 calls, make appropriate response decisions and provide agency-approved pre-arrival instructions to callers. This course Module 1 is Emergency Communications Officer covering 9-1-1 Ethics, Liability, Legal Issues, 9-1-1 Roles and Responsibilities, Overviews of Law Enforcement, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services. As well as Stress Management, Interpersonal Communications, FCC rules and Regulations, 9-1-1 call processing techniques

NJ EMERGENCY MEDICAL DISPATCH Description Information NJ EMERGENCY MEDICAL DISPATCH This course is open to candidates 18 years of age and older interested in obtaining the necessary skills and education to enter the field of emergency communications or already working in and emergency communications center. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to receive and process 9-1-1 Emergency Medical calls, make appropriate response decisions and provide agency-approved pre-arrival instructions to callers.

This course Module 2 consists of NJ Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) This course, rewritten in 1996, used the NHTSA's National Standard Curriculum for EMD as its basis. Completion of the New Jersey Basic EMD Course means that the student has met all of the requirements of National Standard Curriculum. Topics covered provide the student with the knowledge and foundation to answer calls for emergency medical service and properly prioritize the response. The course also provides the student with the knowledge needed to convey proper pre-arrival instructions to the caller when needed. Prerequisites

All students must be at least 18 years of age to enroll. Students must be able to read and understand the English language. CPR Certification to the Health Care Provider/Professional Rescuer level is required and is provided as part of this Program at no additional charge. All students will be required to take the CPR component regardless of current certification status.
